Director, Commercial Operations (Cable Network) – New York NY - The Director will be responsible for managing a team of Commercial Operations staff, ensuring the proper scheduling of advertiser executions on the commercial logs for the MTV's music suite of networks which includes MTV, MTV2, MTV Tr3s, MTVu, MTV Hits and Jams and MTV Mobile. This involves collaborating with all levels of personnel from multiple departments such as Advertising Sales, P&I, Billing, Collections, IS&T, and Sales Planning. The Director is also responsible for building and maintaining quality agency relationships to proactively address service issues. Responsibilities include: Interviewing and hiring Commercial Operations team members; Monitoring and coaching Comm Ops team through daily interaction, 360 feedback, positive reinforcement, and performance reviews; Collaborating with ASSET team to continually train/mentor Comm Ops staff; Working hand in hand with Sales, Billing, and Collections teams to resolve discrepancies and approve all billing adjustments; Partnering with sales teams to resolve all unschedulable units; Monitor spot placement through daily bin sweeps, regular log analysis, and effective communication with team; Implementing and analyzing performance metrics to sustain service levels and asses quality of work; Proactively asses process and policies to determine the most efficient order maintenance workflow; Collaborating with Sales and P&I to monitor avails and resolve oversells. Qualifications: A minimum of 5-7 years in Commercial Operations and/or sales service experience required with 5 years in a supervisory / management capacity; College degree required; Knowledge of pricing and/or inventory models a plus; Experience working under tight deadlines and the flexibility to manage unpredictable work schedules; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Strong knowledge of internal and/or industry sales and traffic systems; Working knowledge of agency processes and systems. Desired Skills: Leadership acumen and the desire to implement / manage change; Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate team; Possess operational competencies developed in the media industry; Ability to perform at a high level and make quality, informed decisions, in an extremely fast-paced atmosphere; Possess strong communication/interpersonal skills, with the confidence to interact with all levels of the company; Ability to multi-task and succeed in a matrix oriented environment.
